Bedroom Needs. My wishlist. And a GIVEAWAY too.

It's that awesome time of year  - Target's HUGE Home Sale.

For the four years after I graduated high school {which was several moons ago now}, I worked at our local Target store. This income supported me, whilst I was studying my teaching degree at university. I was a 'checkout chick' there, and then was promoted up; as the front desk lady and then the receptionist :) I can still remember cringing when reading the roster and seeing I was scheduled on the checkouts during a huge sale like the Toy Sale or Home Sale. Sales can bring out the best and worst in people. And being the observer that I am - I saw the worst in some customers as they came rushing in....on a mission to snag some bargains! Now that I'm 'grown up' and have the task of running & maintaining a home, whilst raising kids and following a budget - I totally get why people would go nuts over a HUGE sale :) We all want to save money right? We all want quality right? We all want the best for ourselves and our families, right?

However nowadays, I bet Target employees can breathe a little easier during a big sale now - with thanks to online shopping. Because now, you can still nab awesome bargains whilst shopping from your couch, or bed, or car :)

Earlier this week, I posted my to-do list. A few odd jobs that I need to conquer around our house. I decided I needed to make a trip to Target to stock up on photo frames and a few other bits n pieces. So I was delighted to see their Home Sale is on. {ends next Wednesday 20th March....quick....get some!}

It got me thinking about what else we need to do around our home, to beautify it as well as make it more efficient and family friendly. I started to browse Target's online store and started dreaming of all the goodies I would get if money wasn't a factor :) Then I realised it can be achievable, if we break down our 'desires' and 'needs' for our home into smaller parts - room by room. And in our house, our bedrooms need a few minor makeovers and additions.

I've put together a wishlist of some of the bedroom goodies I want to nab during this Home Sale:

Ella is due for some new pretty bedding. In the next few months, Ryder will probably need to make a transition to a bed, so I need to start considering transforming his room from a baby's nursery into a toddler's play/sleep room. And our main bedroom is in need of a few decor pieces to spruce it up.

What do you think of my list?

And, the best part....in the current sale....all of these items {except the Paris lamps} are well under $50 each. Pretty good considering the quality and durability. Target is a brand I trust for not only homewares, but clothing, cosmetics and baby-needs too.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

And to celebrate YOU, my lovely readers and Target's Home Sale - I have one $40 TARGET Gift Card to GIVEAWAY! This gift card can be used at a Target Store in Australia. Perfect chance to put it towards something pretty or practical for your home!?

To be in the draw, simply check out Target's online store. Then come back here and tell me one thing you'd add to your wishlist during this Home Sale.

A winner will be randomly drawn next Wednesday 20th March at midday {Brisbane time} and notified by email. {so make sure you put your email address in the comment form on this blog post}

Budons Stationery. {GIVEAWAY}

I've always been a stationery fanatic. Even as a young child, I collected scented erasers and novelty pens. I had stacks of pretty notebooks and diaries. And the beginning of each school year - armed with brand new pens and pencils, books, paperclips and a fresh new pencil case, was the highlight of my year! {yes, stationery does that to me haaa}

So, when I recently saw Budons new range {being launched this month exclusively in Target stores} my happy-stationery-heart may have skipped a beat of two.{www.budons.com}

Their range is young and fun and versatile.

And when I say fun....I mean it!

Collectable clip ons - characters and erasers. Funky youthful colours. And their SCRATCH n SNIFF collection. Every child's delight :)

Ella couldn't stop scratchin' and sniffin' the Budons notebook cover :)

She too has a love for fine stationery. When we opened the package from Budons, Ella was beside herself. She was straight into the sticky notes {writing all sorts of important notes! Four year old's have lots of important things to keep track of. Apparently} and lining up her favourite pens in the pink zip up case.

I love the clip ons.

Mix 'em. Swap 'em. Trade 'em. Collect 'em All.

Jayden claimed the 'monster' keyring for his laptop case.....

And baby brother, Ryder, stamped his ownership over the awesome drink bottle.

I love a good drink bottle that is easy to clean, refill and store. It doesn't leak and is made of strong materials.

Happy Mumma!

They have a HEAP of stuff in their range too. I can't wait to get to our local Target soon to add to our collection.

You can view Budons online HERE. And buy their rainge from Target Stores.

AND.....to share the LOVE. Budons is giving ONE of my readers a Budons Pack!! {worth $40!}

The prize pack includes:

1 x silver drink bottle (girl)
1 x PCT green
1 x PC long – blue
1 x SnS sticky subject labels (boy)
1 x Daisy duke Eraser (purple)
1 x clip on – mad skull (free)
1 x clip on – cuddle pops
1 x clip on – red dragon
1 x clip on – hula tula

Trust me....you'll love it. {and oif you're willing to share it with your kids....they'll love it too!}

Back to School with Dymo. {GIVEAWAY}

This morning once Ryder was down for his nap, I left him in the capable hands of his Daddy {the pro's of having a husband who works from home}, and headed out with Miss Ella.

We went down the road...to her school. Yep....school.....REAL school!

Hand in hand, we went into the uniform shop, waited forever in line and then it was our turn.

And the words came out of my mouth... "My baby is starting Prep this year. We need everything thanks!" And as those words came out of my mouth, it hit me again. School. Fulltime school. Real school. Seriously, when did this happen? I swear I just gave birth to her yesterday!? Didn't I?!

The concept of her wearing a uniform isn't so foreign to me. She wore one at her Kindy in 2012. It was more the emotional strings that were tugged as I saw her trying on bucket hats and culottes and button up blouses, and then having to buy enough of these uniforms to last FIVE DAYS A WEEK! I almost cried there in the little change room {oh, and the price of the uniforms may have also contributed to the welled up tears! lol}

When we got home I started the sorting and labelling process! I want everything to be organised, but I also want it all to be efficient too. If {when} she looses a piece of her uniform or mixes it up with another child's, I want anyone to easily identify that it belongs to Ella. Simple!

And that's when the Dymo LetraTag comes in.

Using the 'white plastic' tape; I printed out a heap of ELLA CHADWICK 's {with love heart borders of course} and got sticking :)

School bag labelled....using last year's Kindy photo and the Dymo label.

When every child in the whole school has the same bag -  I want Ella to be able to easily identify hers :)

The plastic labels were fab. They can stick to almost any surface. Drink bottles, lunch boxes, pencils etc.

And the best thing about the DYMO LETRATAG; is how easy it is to use. Simply type, edit with borders or images or font sizes etc, press print and cut {with the built-in cutter} and WHAM....sticky label done! LOVE!

But my favourite.....

The iron-on label tape!

Again....type, print, cut....and simply iron onto uniforms, bags, socks etc....

No more writing onto fabric with permanent marker!

Her book pack is expected to arrive next week. Once they're contact-covered, I'll be whipping out the DYMO again to name each one. And as soon as we know what class she's in....wham....more labeling :) I love it. My inner OCD tendencies are so happy right now. Thanks to Dymo, I'm feeling a little less overwhelmed with Ella starting school {yes....real school.....I need to keep repeating that for myself.....maybe it'll sink in eventually} .....and a whole heap more organised!

The beauty with this little machine is; not only does it run on AA batteries {so you can take it and use it anywhere!}, but it can be used to label just about anything....and everything!

I'll be on a labeling frenzy now! Look out toy boxes, sock drawers, pantry storage and craft supplies :) I'll also get a HEAP of use out of this baby in my classroom this year, when I return to teaching.

I'm excited...{yes sad I know!}

*****************************

.........The good people at DYMO want you to be just as organised and just as excited as me....and have given me an extra DYMO LetraTag Label Machine {RRP $59.95} to GIVEAWAY!!!! Cheers to that!

2013 Resolutions. And a giveaway too.

Print available from here.

I love the newness and hope of a new year. The first of January always breeds feelings of possibility and opportunity. Fresh slates, new starts, a new focus!

I still remember the 1st of January 1996. It was the year I turned 14. I was about to start Grade 9.

I wrote on little pieces of paper which I had ripped from one of my many little notebooks {a stationery addict....even back then} all of my resolutions and goals for that year. I put them into little envelopes, categorised {of course} such as: friendships, home, dancing, school etc.

I referred back to them throughout the year and glued them into my diary once they were achieved or when I needed to make reference to them! {umm yes...I was an over thinker...even back then!}

 Now at 30, I still make resolutions on the 1st of January every year. I don't always write them down, and I rarely talk about them out loud. They're usually for me. For my family.

But this year, I thought I'd write them down. I'd share them. I'd be accountable for them!

So here goes....

2013.....

  • Eat Well! Sounds simple doesn't it!?  - I think as a family, we already eat quite well. But this year I want to make sure we're eating more wholefoods and earthly goodness. We will UP our veggie and fruit intake and cut back on the carby/gluten/processed/sugary foods. I'm also a realist - I LOVE chocolate and coffee and wine. I love a good pasta and takeaway pizza every now and then. I'm not going to deprive myself from these little joys - life is way too short for that! But I will be mindful of my daily intake, understanding moderation & making conscious decisions on what I'm feeding my family.

I have already kicked into this resolution {which has been made much easier by my health-addict, good-food-lovin husband}. We are back to making fresh fruit juices most mornings and I have undergone the 30 Day Green Smoothie Challenge which I'm already LOVING! We are having simple lunches and dinners of steamed fish and LOADS of veggies with Quinoa or Avocado or Eggs. Ryder is great eater and will give anything a good go. Ella is gradually broadening her wings and trying these foods too.

  • Meal Plan - no fancy calendars or colour coded systems.....just a simple weekly plan/idea of what we'll eat each night for dinner. I did this when I was on Maternity Leave with Ella as a baby. I'd sit down on a Sunday night and write a list of that week's dinners and a shopping list to support. It was a time-saver, sanity-saver and money-saver. But life got busy, and I stopped being organised! But 2013, is the year to get back on track with meal planning and grocery shopping planning.
  • Accept change and things I can not control!!  I like to have control. However, I'm learning that with life and with parenting....we have to let go of control sometimes and simply trust the process. I need to accept that Ella is off to fulltime school. I need to accept that I'm returning to part time work. I need to accept that we did not birth sleep-loving children. Sleep deprivation is another 'characteristic' of me these days! I need to accept that some things - some people; never change! I need to accept that there is not more than 24 hours in a day, no matter how hard I look for them! I need to accept that we're aging....our children are aging.....life moves on!!!
  • FINISH my book! Yes, I started a book and it's about time I finish the dang thing! Whether it gets published or not. I WILL finish it for ME!
  • Get more of my words, my stories, my articles into PRINT & PUBLICATIONS!
  • Do more little random acts of kindness. Be creative in ways I can help people....or make people smile.
  • Simplify!!!! Say NO sometimes. Cut out time-wasting projects. De-Clutter. Focus on what feels right and good and things that bring me joy!
  • Be happy. Be present in moments. Be kind to myself. Be the best MUM and WIFE, I can possibly be!

************************

And now a gift for TEN of you!!!!

Simply leave a comment on this blog post telling me one of your 2013 GOALS to go into the drawer to win 1 of 10 Printable Wall Posters!

Win a 2012 Christmas Planner.

Earlier in the year, the lovely Laura over at Twenty5Seven asked if I was interested in participating in a little Christmas project of hers. At the time, I was swamped with work and we were about to go away to Hamilton Island, so I said she could help herself to my blog and take anything 'Christmassy' from it.

Well....the clever little chicken that she is.....has put together an awesome 2012 Christmas Planner for busy people :) It's such a chaotic time of year - so much going on, so much to do, so much to buy etc etc.

But, with Laura's little planner, you can be more organised and on-top of things this Christmas Season...

This little diary contains a calendar, a Christmas craft activity, gift buying lists, gift ideas, recipes by Karla, menu planning, shopping lists, Christmas activity planner, a notes section and a gorgeous article from Cherie.

I love it. Laura has done a FAB job putting it together!

And I have FOUR to giveaway.
