Welcome to the bloggy home of Claire Chadwick. I'm the face & designer behind Scissors Paper Rock Designs, a wife to Chris, Mummy to the Divine Miss Ella & our newest addition; Baby Ryder. I'm a Primary School Teacher by trade, but recently shut my classroom door to pursue other BIG dreams of Freelance Writing. I am also excited to announce that my first Children's Picture Book {So Many Sounds} will hit stores in June 2013. This blog is my little online space where I weave together my reflections and stories of Motherhood. I illustrate with photos.... and drink plenty of coffee to keep me going. I'm on a mission to turn the mundane moments of motherhood into MAGICAL ones.

Join me in seeping as much goodness out of life, {whilst I continue to drink way too much coffee & take way too many photos} and together we can make the most of our WILD & PRECIOUS LIVES!

I'd love to hear from you....comment on my posts or send me an email. Buckle up, Enjoy the ride!

The Simple Things - I live under a rainbow

I'm not a huge fan of drizzly, wet weather. Sometimes it's kind of nice....to snuggle down with doonas & hot chocolates & movies in bed {haaa...who am I kidding....I can not remember the last time I did that on a rainy night....but it sounds good hey!?}....whilst the rain is tapping quietly on the roof & the air has that fresh, cool smell to it. But for the most part....rainy days are just a pain in the butt. Kids go feral on wet days {trust me, as a teacher, I know!}, the washing can't be air dried, everything in the house feels damp & clammy, getting the family in & out of the car is a mission with awkward umbrellas & slippery shoes and it's hard to be motivated to go out when the weather is dreary & cold.

But.....some days.....the rain is almost enchanting & uplifting! How, you ask? When it looks like this at 6am:

This was the view from our back deck. Gosh, I love this new house!!! Feels like home now.

I normally like to greet the day to blue skies & fluffy clouds. Good weather days usually inspire me to get busy, get creative, get out! But a drizzly day here, is actually quite beautiful The bushlands seem darker yet healthier, the sky rolls over the mountains & into our back yard. A misty layer covers the horizon. It's kind of special!

And then when we look out the front of the house to see that we're blanketted by a rainbow.....hello heaven!

Haaa....to all the times, I've been told I dream too much & live in a fantasy world. Yep, I agree....and here's proof. I live under a rainbow for Pete's sake. Life's good. Life's rich with beauty & wonder :)

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain"

A big coffee CHEERS to that......

It's the simple things in life that matter. A rainbow on a dreary, early morning = perfection!

Linking up with Simple As That this week, where Rebecca hosts a lovely weekly link-up of people all over the world focussing on the Simple Things in life that make us smile:

Have a great week everyone. May it be filled with a few storms.....because after those storms, a rainbow may be appear & as the storm settles, life can be beautiful again!

The Simple Things

Pre-weekend, I thought I was going to have LOTS of weekend adventures to share on here.....but like all well-made plans.....they change!

Ryder has not been himself for a few days now. We originally thought teething, but a quick trip to the Doctor on Saturday morning revealed that it's more likely a head cold virus, mixed with early teething. Meaning, he's not a happy chappy at all! High temps, the cranks & a blocked nose which is effecting feeds, sleep & the normally happy nature of our boy.

So, the direction of the weekend changed slightly. I stayed home with the unhappy, overtired little man whilst Chris & Ella headed off to some lovely friend's engagement party on Saturday afternoon, and then we enjoyed a quiet night in with homemade pizzas.

I headed out with the 2 kids on Sunday morning, to the markets with some friends. That was nice! But Mr Ryder let me know that he had had enough & it was time to head back home, out of the stinkin' hot weather & into the cool air-con :)

So, we savoured extra cuddles from a very sooky little man & enjoyed the simple things......like chubby thighs & snoring babies :)

I've said it before & I'll say it again....He is so delicious.

And, to ice the cake.....little Miss Ella has developed a runny nose & a cough today.....so the fun will continue :) Thankfully there is always lots of simple things to enjoy ;o)

Linking up with THE SIMPLE THINGS today:

Oh, yeah, by the way.....my regular readers may have noticed that my blog layout is different & my blog banner has vanished & been replaced with my business/website banner.......but bear with me.....I'm in the process of changing websites over to a different host.......I'm looking forward to getting my blog back on track & beautifying it :))))

P.S. Don't forget to email me your MESSAGE TO TEENAGE ME submissions :)

The Simple Things.

Ok, I'm a little late....as this is traditionally a Sunday link-up post over on {simple as that}, but hey...how does the saying go? ......better late than never :) And it's about enjoying the simple things that make us smile....and really I can find them in my everyday.......

Yesterday, was a scrumptious balance of being out & about with hanging out at home. A few simple things I enjoyed were:

Our handsome little man....13 weeks old now....and simply delightful. His eyes get me every time :)

Making raspberry jelly in gingerbread shaped moulds with my little lady.

{this photo was taken on Sunday} However, drawing happy pictures happens everyday in our house :) One of the joys of having a creative, inquisitive 4yr old in the house :)

What simple things are you enjoying right now at your place? I'd love to know!

Head on over to Simple As That's gorgeous blog {one of my new faves} to see more Simple Things Being Enjoyed:

Happy Tuesday All.

P.S. All of these images were taken on my iPhone in the Instagram app.
