Welcome to the bloggy home of Claire Chadwick. I'm the face & designer behind Scissors Paper Rock Designs, a wife to Chris, Mummy to the Divine Miss Ella & our newest addition; Baby Ryder. I'm a Primary School Teacher by trade, but recently shut my classroom door to pursue other BIG dreams of Freelance Writing. I am also excited to announce that my first Children's Picture Book {So Many Sounds} will hit stores in June 2013. This blog is my little online space where I weave together my reflections and stories of Motherhood. I illustrate with photos.... and drink plenty of coffee to keep me going. I'm on a mission to turn the mundane moments of motherhood into MAGICAL ones.

Join me in seeping as much goodness out of life, {whilst I continue to drink way too much coffee & take way too many photos} and together we can make the most of our WILD & PRECIOUS LIVES!

I'd love to hear from you....comment on my posts or send me an email. Buckle up, Enjoy the ride!

Live! Laugh! Love!

A Day In The World.

A couple of weeks ago, I read {on Fat Mum Slim's blog} about the 'A Day In The World' photo project. Being a photo lover and severe mamarazzi participant, I liked the sound of this movement. You basically had to photograph & document your day on May 15th and upload them to the "A Day In The World" website to be apart of the project.

I did particiapte. It was easy. It was fun. And here's my shots of my/our day on May 15th 2012:

1. Breakfast: It was a little chilly as we rose early at 6am, so porridge was my breakfast choice :) Smothered in maple syrup & ground LSA {linseed, sunflower seeds & almond nuts}.YUM!

2. Chris then called me to say he had left his wallet at home, and was stranded at the petrol station {15mins away} unable to pay for his fuel. So I popped the kids in the car & we went to Daddy's rescue with his wallet & cash :)

3. Back home for morning tea. Ryder's morning tea consists of...FORMULA MILK :) He enjoyed his bottle whilst snuggled on my lap in our lounge room.

4. I've been doing some basic reading lessons with Ella. After morning tea, she dug out the books we borrowed from my best friend {a Prep teacher} and together we worked our way through the story.

5. We enjoyed a little outside play, and then hung the washing out. Ryder sat in his Bumbo Seat under the washing line...cheering me on as I completed the mundane job of the washing process :) The blueness in the sky was pretty special though! A perfect Autumn's day.

6. Lunchtime. Ella & I sit at the dining table to eat lunch, while I multi-task feeding Ryder in his high chair. Pureed chicken, vegies & brown rice was on the menu for this little man :) {And Socks the Monkey had to be near by of course!}

7. Later in the afternoon, the kids & I headed out to run some errands. First stop the Print Shop, then the Post Office, then to Lincraft to pick up some ribbon for a crafty project.

8. Ella went back to the wall of fake flowers several time inside the craft store. She thought they were pretty special :) And I must have looked suss standing there with the pram, waiting for my Miss to smell the {fake...non smelling} flowers, because the checkout lady asked to check my pram basket & nappy bag TWICE!!!!! Ummm....I just spent $40 on pink ribbon in your store.....do I really look that suspect?? Much to her dismay, she discovered I was not a shop-lifter!

9. Back home: An early evening coffee whilst preparing dinner & wrestling 2 kids through the 'evening routine' was the perfect pick-me-up.

I didn't really get a chance to take anymore pics after that.....as most other Mumma's would know...the evenings/nights simply whip by & you rarely get a chance to breathe let alone take photos. Once dinner is served, the night vanishes into the cycle of cleaning, bathing, more cleaning, laundry, lunch making, more cleaning, bottle washing, tidying, bedtime stories, more cleaning, nappy changes & another dash of cleaning :)

So, that was my May 15th. A slow & easy day with my 2 little Loves.

How do you think your day would look through photographs?

Fab, Must-Read Blogs.

I have a blogroll full of luscious reads that I love to check in on regularly. One of the first things I do each morning, after getting Ella her drink & getting her comfy on the couch & brewing my morning coffee....is: log onto my Blogger Dashbaord & catch up on all the new posts for the day! I gain so much inspiration & joy from reading other people's work, viewing their photos, being apart of their art & hearing about their lives! I follow some well-known blogs & enjoy their daily confidence as they fit perfectly into the 'bloggy' world, but I also enjoy cruising for new blogs to be a follower of. In fact, some of the 'newer', 'smaller', 'growing' blogs are some of my favourite reads!!

The lovely Sarah from Special Moments has a gorgeous blog. She only lives 20minutes from me & has bought some of my prints. She has the most balanced & calm outlook on life and this comes through strong in her writing & photos. She strives to be good.....she strives to be better....and that inspires me. She lives, she laughs & she loves! And she wrote this AMAZING post this morning {which featured me...thank you Sarah} and it left me in tears! Happy tears!

Another passion of mine {which I'm sure you've picked up by now if you're a regular visitor} is PHOTOGRAPHY! I've always loved it. In fact, I won a photography competition in 2002 for a photo of our cat. But it's really been since Ella was born {and even more so in the past 2 years} that I've really REALLY loved to be behind the lens...and also looking at, and appreciating other people's photos. I don't consider myself a photographer.....I'm just simply a Mum who has a bad addiction to snapping away at my little treasure! I still have so much to learn about taking photos & how to use my camera....and my new favourite website for this, is: Mama-razzi! If you too have a love for taking photos, this is the blog for you! Carly includes tips, lessons, tutorials & examples to help YOU take better photos!!! {And I had the pleasure of meeting Carly today....and she is one super talented & super lovely lady....a new friendship blooming which I always greet with open arms!}

Another lovely blog which always make me smile & makes me feel inspired is by Sonja Bouw; Tied with a Bouw. I've been following her blog for over a year now, and she always delivers trendy, beautiful posts. Sonja & I communicate regularly over email & she truly is a lovely Soul. And.... to add to her fairy tale....12 weeks ago, her & her Husband, welcomed the most amazing little girl into their world! Baby Allegra is so gorgeous....talk about making a girl clucky :)

Cathie from the blog: m.e is another must read! Cathie blogs about life, cooking & photography. Her photos are AMAZING! I ALWAYS leave her blog feeling uplifted & refreshed! Her photos always inspire me to want to get my camera out & start snapping! She is always honest, but does everything in her power to seep the goodness out of life & be a great Mum!

Oh, how I could keep listing my favourite reads at the moment.....but I think this post would end up going on FOREVER...and I need to get a certain little someone off to bed. I am loving so many blogs right now, especially some great US based photography ones I stumbled across lately. But, there is one more blog I HAD to mention tonight :) One of my best friend's, Kirsty, has started a blog....as in, it's like 1 week old :) And I was so excited when she told me about her new baby; Turquoise & Peach! Her & her husband are in the process of renovating/building a stunning large family home for them & their 2 little boys. The transformation is going to be stunning, and her blog is where she is keeping a record of it all {along with lots of other fashion, lifestyle, food, designer & family goodness} :)

What are some of your favourite blogs at the moment?

Happy Reading Friends!
