Welcome to the bloggy home of Claire Chadwick. I'm the face & designer behind Scissors Paper Rock Designs, a wife to Chris, Mummy to the Divine Miss Ella & our newest addition; Baby Ryder. I'm a Primary School Teacher by trade, but recently shut my classroom door to pursue other BIG dreams of Freelance Writing. I am also excited to announce that my first Children's Picture Book {So Many Sounds} will hit stores in June 2013. This blog is my little online space where I weave together my reflections and stories of Motherhood. I illustrate with photos.... and drink plenty of coffee to keep me going. I'm on a mission to turn the mundane moments of motherhood into MAGICAL ones.

Join me in seeping as much goodness out of life, {whilst I continue to drink way too much coffee & take way too many photos} and together we can make the most of our WILD & PRECIOUS LIVES!

I'd love to hear from you....comment on my posts or send me an email. Buckle up, Enjoy the ride!

Live! Laugh! Love!

My Milk & Cookies Baby Shower

Ever since I stumbled across the idea of a 'Milk & Cookies' themed party {and blogged about one I loved here}, I have wanted to either attend or host one :)

So, when deciding if I'd have a Baby Shower or not for this little bundle of ours, I knew it was the perfect opportunity to have fun with this theme!

So.....an afternoon of MILK & COOKIES at my house was had :) It was simple & a very affordable theme to play with. I sourced most jars, baskets & platters from the '$2' shops. I asked friends for help. I designed & printed all of my own invitations & labels. And I ordered & bought from other fabulous work-from-home Mummies :)

And...this was the end result:

I was really happy with how it turned out! I went with a 'chocolate brown & bright baby blue' colour scheme to not only go with the 'milk & cookies' theme, but also to represent our baby BOY :)

As I said.....simple, yet effective & very affordable! I had a great afternoon!

Printables by me; Scissors Paper Rock. Cute polka-dot bags from Ebay. Tall Milk Bottles from Ikea. Delicious, custom made BABY-BOY COOKIES by Katena @ Taylor Made Baking. Brownies baked by my friend Kirsty. Tim Tam Cake Pops by my talented friend Monica from Sweet n Sexy Scraps

Cute Paper polka-dot straws from Sharnel Dollar Designs

I made the personalised Chocolate Wrappers myself. The white round cake stand is from Sharnel Dollar Designs. And I baked the Giant Cookie Cake myself using a silicone cake mould I bought on Ebay for only $19.

Paper Bags from Ebay. Labels by me :)

I love Katena's Cookies! Not only do they look FABULOUS but they taste amazing too!

Monica made the Marshmallow Slice & The Tim Tam Cake Pops......So So So GOOD!!!!

Once the dessert table was styled & set, we cleaned up outside & set another table full of platters & dips & salads & chips, with drinks on ice. And then enjoyed an afternoon of girly chats, relaxing, eating {way too much}, drinking {non-alco for me} and presents. It was perfect! Casual, simple, fun! I was surrounded by the most important women in my life {minus my beautiful Mummy.....boo hoo to me planning something whilst she was interstate with my Dad & his band} and with kids invited too....they played & celebrated as well! I felt so blessed to have so many amazing ladies in my life who truly care about me, my role as a Mummy & the upcoming arrival of our little baby boy :)

Some of my best girls: Tiffany, Me, Jackie, Mon!

And when the dessert table had been polished clean of cookies & treats, and only crumbs remained......it's the perfect hiding place for 2 sweet little cousins to play :) {Ella & Elina}

Fun Times!!

And a big thank you to my friends & family who not only showered me with presents & love.....but who helped set up, clean up & everything else in between :)

Almost 36 weeks........yahoooo!! Not long til we meet our little man YAY!!

P.S. I had a maternity shoot yesterday with the talented Carly Webber....I will share her lovely shots with you as soon as I get them! She's a delight to work with & I've already booked her in for our Baby Boy's Newborn Shots :) Head over here to see her work!

Spotlight on a Sponsor.....{The Lemony Cupcake}

I hope you've had breakfast.....because today's SPOTLIGHT ON A SPONSOR is going to make you hungry.....or craving something deliciously sweet :) I was super excited when the lovely Coby from The Lemony Cupcake contacted me about being a SPR Blog Sponsor!

The Lemony Cupcake is based in Brisbane, but visiting their website & looking at their photo gallery is a MUST!!! I caught up with Coby Liddell & did my 'sponsor spotlight feature interview':

Tell us a little about your business/job:

*     I love my job. No, really. I LOVE my job! I started my business as a hobby about 8 years ago and finally registered my business name in 2007. The Lemony Cupcake became a full-time gig after the birth of my baby boy 18 months ago. Now it is go go go and I wouldn’t change it for the world!

What/Who inspires you?

*     I love all things pretty, yet quirky... I love following blogs and getting inspiration from others, but I like to put my own spin on things..... There are some extremely talented people out there – I adore Amy Atlas, Style Me Pretty, Green Wedding Shoes and Jenna Marfori Lang (Eat Drink Pretty). And even after all these years I must confess, I still © Martha.... I have a beautiful friend, Terri (of Terri Hanlon Photography) who is constantly sharing beautiful images and ideas with me. We can often be found in little cafes, antique shops and the like, nattering and exploring like two old women.... J

What do you love most about what you do?

*     I am in an industry where I meet beautiful people who allow me to share in their most special celebrations. Creating a cake or a gorgeous dessert table for somebody’s unique event is inspiring in itself.

What has been the highlight so far since starting The Lemony Cupcake?

*     Seeing my work in print. There is something about having your work in a glossy magazine and being able to say ‘hey, look at me! I did this!’.....

Explain a 'normal' day in your life:

*     No two days are alike, but there is one constant. Every day I make sure there is time with my family. And that old saying that goes around and around on FB... I am a mother, a wife, a nurse etc.... Yep, I am all of those things. Thankfully not all at once, on any one day, or I would be completely exhausted!

Your Favourite Quote/Motto:

*     The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go. (Dr Seuss). We have this on our wall in our ‘children’s retreat’ (aka – Jack’s reading spot!!!)

What are your goals for 'The Lemony Cupcake' where do you see yourself in 5 years?

*     My immediate goals are to continue to grow my business but still retain creative control. I would love to have a pretty little shop (I have my eye on the perfect one...), but right now, I am in a very happy place. I am really enjoying throwing myself into my business this year and loving creating all things miniature and heart shaped!! It is so much fun creating new and exciting sweet treats and seeing everything come together in a dessert table!

Do you blog? If so, why do you blog & what do you blog about?

*     Yep. I blog. Not as much as I should. But it is on my list of things to do... I will be sharing a few exciting things very soon, so stay tuned! Oh, and what do I blog ABOUT? Cake & all things sweet ;-)

3 Things you are:

*     Organised

*     Creative

*     Thoughtful

3 Things you aren't:

*     Selfish

*     Rude

*     Arrogant

Anything else you'd like to share with my readers:

*     Please take a moment to visit my website, stalk my FB page and read my blog. I would love to know that I have inspired just one person.

Thank you Coby....for the interview, for sponsoring my blog....and for the gorgeous business you provide!!
