Party Hat. {make your own}

Early last week, I got an email from Ella's ballet teacher. She was spreading the news that one of the dance teachers was celebrating a birthday that week, and as a surprise could the whole studio come to classes on Saturday wearing PARTY HATS!!

"Easy!" I thought! We usually have them 'lying around'. As you do! I come across them all the time....in the dress up box, in one of many toy boxes, stashed in cupboards, packed in bags, crumpled in savoured party bags or hidden up high in the 'party cupboard'. I thought we had an abundance of them.....even some extras we could take to share!

Until...Saturday morning rolled around. I remembered Ella had to wear a party hat, so told her to go find one in her room. She reappeared moments later.... "I can't find any!" she says. Assuming she'd had a '4 yr old's look' {worse than a 'male's look!'} I started to dig through toys & clothes & party goods & boxes...to finally come to the realisation that we had NO party hats in the house! {Damn me & my declutter fests!}

With about 30mins to spare, before we had to leave, I decided making one would be a better option than lugging 2 kids through the local grocery store in the pouring rain.

So, I jumped on GOOGLE {what...WHAT, did we do before Google??} and found a Party Hat Template....from here....and you can download it from her site:

I quickly printed it onto white card stock, and let Ella go crazy with some birthday joy :)

A quick cut, a dash of sticky tape, some elastic underneath & a piece of ribbon to decorate....and we had ourselves a very fancy, homemade party hat!!

It survived a tap class, a jazz class, 2 car trips & an afternoon of dress-up play! SUCCESS!

I thought Ella would be a little embarrassed to be the only one wearing a 'home made' one compared to all the glitter & sparkle ones on show. But she wore it with a smile on her face - proud of her efforts!! The girl knows how to celebrate!!
