Welcome to the bloggy home of Claire Chadwick. I'm the face & designer behind Scissors Paper Rock Designs, a wife to Chris, Mummy to the Divine Miss Ella & our newest addition; Baby Ryder. I'm a Primary School Teacher by trade, but recently shut my classroom door to pursue other BIG dreams of Freelance Writing. I am also excited to announce that my first Children's Picture Book {So Many Sounds} will hit stores in June 2013. This blog is my little online space where I weave together my reflections and stories of Motherhood. I illustrate with photos.... and drink plenty of coffee to keep me going. I'm on a mission to turn the mundane moments of motherhood into MAGICAL ones.

Join me in seeping as much goodness out of life, {whilst I continue to drink way too much coffee & take way too many photos} and together we can make the most of our WILD & PRECIOUS LIVES!

I'd love to hear from you....comment on my posts or send me an email. Buckle up, Enjoy the ride!

Live! Laugh! Love!

Kreativ Blogger Meme......

{image}

It's no secret I love this little corner of the world....My Blog :) I enjoy my time cruising the 'Blog World', exploring & absorbing other people's writing, reading my regular favourites & being constantly inspired about everything from design concepts, to new recipes, to parenting stories, and the ins & downs and ups & downs of other people's lives! I have made some amazing online relationships with some other bloggers & am constantly in awe of how creative, honest & open writers can be! I Love it!

And it was such an honour yesterday to discover that the gorgeous Lisa from Lisa and Mini Ginger had passed on to me the Kreativ Blogger Meme! Lisa's blog is one of those blogs that I'm referring to when I say "inspirational & honest"! She blogs about her life as a first time Mother...dealing with the many ups & downs & obstacles.....she's a gorgeous writer....I encourage you to head over & check out her pretty blog!

However....for me to accept the KBM, I have to share 7 random things about myself!

So...here goes:

  1. When Hubby & I first met, we moved to the Sunshine Coast for 6 months & lived in a 2 bedroom unit on the beach. At that stage, I was at uni doing my Teaching Degree & a checkout chick at Target, so commuted the 2 hours when needed....but spent most of the time lazing on the beach enjoying the Summer & walking along the waterfront.....it was BLISS!
  2. I played every sport possible as a child. You name it....and I was on the team & joining in with Saturday Sport all year round! I was never very good at most of the sports.....but I tried! Haaa!
  3. I still {and I'm sure will continue to} have a niggling feeling of loss from my ectopic pregnancy this year! I've read stories of women having full-term still-borns or miscarriages late in their pregnancies, so I know what I went through could've been a whole lot worse.....but I still think of the 'what if's' & the 'why's' and have a feeling of sadness for the 'what could've been's'!
  4. As a child, I wanted so badly to be Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz :) I even got my Mum to make a dress just like Dorothy's which I paraded around in most days :)
  5. I love to dance! Dancing really soothes my soul! I still go to weekly classes & crave that time doing what I love!
  6. Ella was NOT an easy baby! For those of you who 'know' me, know what I'm talking about! She's always been beautiful, full of spark & hit every milestone before the expected age....but she was never that 'chilled out' baby just sitting back & taking it all in! She had serious people anxiety, very fussing eating habits & she's a terrible sleeper! However, she's now 2 1/2 yrs old & she is what I would classify as 'easy'. She is polite & sweet, she's fun & bubbly, she's a ball of spunk & style with a mixture of calm & confidence!
  7. I'm a massive caffeine addict! {a habit that I've always had in a mild way......but it got serious during the extreme months of sleep deprivation when Ella was younger & it's still my life-source lol} I love that quote from Gilmore Girls: "I need caffeine. Whatever form you've got. I'll drink it, shoot it, eat it, snort it. Whatever form it's in, gimme!" Hehehe it makes me giggle every time I hear/read it!

So...there you have it! 7 Random things you may not have known about me :)

And...now it's my turn to pass the Kreative Blogger Meme on to other bloggers who inspire me & who's blogs I truly love reading!!!

Sarah from xS.K.Kx

What I've been up to.......{My Creative Space}

Do you remember back in June when I blogged about the Baby Boy Christening Invitations I made? These ones:

Yep those ones :)

Well...not long after sending them out to the lovely Kirsten, she then asked me if I could make some 'Thank You" Gifts for some of the Christening Guests! We decided on a Mini Garden from my Baby Boy Birth Announcement range! She choice a blue "Love in a Mist" flower seed....so sweet!

So I got to work.....And......Here they are:

Such a little precious keepsake for their guests :)

For a look at more Creative Spaces....head over to Kootoyoo!

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Lunch Box LOVE........

As a child {and even as a teenager}, my Mother would hide little handwritten notes in my lunch box! It wasn't a scheduled thing so I never knew when to expect it....it was always a surprise....and I loved it! And even when I would make my own lunch...she'd still find a way to sneak it in there...or into my school bag!

They were just a little piece of paper with a simple message or sketch...to let me know she loves me, that she's proud of me, that she's thinking of me, to wish me luck on the test or just to brighten my day!!

That little tradition always made me smile....and it definitely brightened my day!

It was that special little thing my Mum did that gave me the inspiration for these:

A set of 8 Lunch Box Notes to leave in your little one's lunch box or school bag to BRIGHTEN their day!

Designed, printed & made by me....and available for purchase from my madeit store ~ Scissors Paper Rock! Or email me [scissorspaperrock {at} gmail.com] to place an order!

Only $5.00 {plus postage}

Head here to BUY THEM!!

I plan of leaving cute little love notes in my little one's lunch box when she's school aged...and I'd love for you to participate in the tradition too!

ENJOY!!

At My House......

Things will be a little different 'At My House' over the next 2 weeks!

I normally only work {teaching} 3 days per week! I love this arrangement...as it gives me the weekend & Mondays & Tuesdays at home with my little Miss to enjoy life as a Mother and also time to focus on my business ~ Scissors Paper Rock. And then Wed-Fri I am work & enjoying the time away from home, mingling with adults & other children, making a difference {well....trying to} & earning an income for my gorgeous family! This balance of part-time work has been lovely & I have become a little to comfy in it :) Oh how I thrive on my days off, enJOYING life as a part-time SAHM ;o)

However....whilst I was in hospital & then home for 2 weeks recovering from my operation, my lovely Teaching Partner, Sheree, worked my days for me!!

So now....it's pay back time! I owe her 4 days! So, I'm working fulltime for the next 2 weeks!

I was a little out of whack all day today...being at school on a Monday really threw me off....hehehe! I think it's going to be a loooong 2 weeks....but thankfully....it's only 2 weeks....AND the school holidays greet me at the end of the 2 week stint :)

So....At My House, Ella's 2 Grandmothers are getting to enjoy the next 2 Mondays & Tuesdays with Little Miss Ella!! I'm so grateful to have both sets of Grandparents so close & willing to help! They enjoy the time with her...and Ella LOVES having her Nanny or Grandma all to herself for a whole day :) This way....everyone wins :)

Today, Ella has been crafting with my Mum {Grandma} & they took a trip down to the beach :) I was very jealous when I got the text from Mum saying they were heading to glorious Paradise Point beach for the afternoon!!!

Here's a few snaps of what Ella & Grandma have been making, at my house:

And tomorrow she's off to Nanny's house to enjoy the puppies, painting, the pool & a trip to the Dentist to hold Nanny's hand while she has a check up :)

What's been happening at your house lately?

Head over to Lou's to see what other people have been up to :)

{Week-a-Boo}.....a peek into your weekEND!

~ Father's Day Weekend ~

Hi Lovelies! How was everyone's weekend?

Here in QLD, it was overcast & rainy most of the weekend...which was actually quite nice because it was the perfect excuse to slow down & chill out & ENJOY the days!And to be honest I have felt like crapola all weekend! YES....YET ANOTHER cold/flu has made an unwelcome stay in my sinus & chest....but I refused to let it ruin my weekend and got up to these lovely shenanigans:

Friday night kicked my weekend off with a bang! A night in the city with my Bestie! Dinner @ South Bank, then off to Mamma Mia @ QPAC & finished with Ice Cream @ Cold Rock!! Ahhhh BLISS!!!

Saturday consisted of wearing pyjamas until midday, a visit from my Dad & a shopping trip for groceries & Hubby's Father's Day present :)

Sunday.....was filled with:

Ella drawing portraits of some of her favourite people :)

Ella & her Nanny!

Catching up with beautiful family & having blissful baby cuddles with little Miss Lily {our newest family member.....my niece}

Some Father's Day LOVE!!!

And plenty of giggles & silliness!!

So overall....a lovely balance of work & play, which is such a nice feeling, when looking back on the past 2 days!

What did you get up to on the weekend? I'd love to have a PEEK!

Enter your blog post on the linky below & link your post back to me! ENJOY! And have a great week!
