I'm a Primary School Teacher by trade, but recently shut my classroom door to pursue other BIG dreams of Freelance Writing. I am also excited to announce that my first Children's Picture Book {So Many Sounds} will hit stores in June 2013. This blog is my little online space where I weave together my reflections and stories of Motherhood. I illustrate with photos.... and drink plenty of coffee to keep me going. I'm on a mission to turn the mundane moments of motherhood into MAGICAL ones.

Join me in seeping as much goodness out of life, {whilst I continue to drink way too much coffee & take way too many photos} and together we can make the most of our WILD & PRECIOUS LIVES!

I'd love to hear from you....comment on my posts or send me an email. Buckle up, Enjoy the ride!

One Weekend Wonder {6} Reconnecting

One Weekend Wonder - {a weekly link-up} - a special moment or experience captured during the weekend. One you want to cherish.

Saturday morning; I worked like a mad woman. Between 6am and 11am, I washed bedding, wrote out routines, packed bags, cleaned baby bottles, laid out kiddies pyjamas, prepared meals, wrapped presents and baked a cake. Why? Because Chris and I were heading off to a wedding!!! Child-free!

A wedding that was a 2 hour drive away. And our first full night away from our two cherubs.

My parents came to our place to look after Ella & Ryder for the remainder of the weekend, while we enjoyed a full 24hours to ourselves :)

We ran Mum through the general routine, listed off the tips for the middle of the night wakings, kissed our babies, loaded the car and headed off. We were country bound.

Two hours later we arrived at the B & B Cottage that Chris had booked. It seriously was the cutest accommodation. Ever! Clean and cozy. Set amongst the hills of beautiful countryside and decorated in sweet vintage decor. I fell in love with the little cottage.

The view from our cottage!

Evening comfort.

A quick change of outfit, into our wedding best. A splash of makeup for me and an attempt to re-straighten my hair....and we headed over the paddock to the wedding venue.

Chris's business partner and friend; Michael....was taking Erin as his wife. We couldn't wait to be a part of such a beautiful love story.

The wedding was all kinds of lovely. It was unique, and pretty. It was love-filled and fun. It was seeped in their personality and it was a true reflection of them, as a couple. Chris and I had an absolute blast. Although there were a heap of babies and kids in tow, we thoroughly enjoyed the break, and the peace of being there without our two. We were able to relax and chat, drink champagne and lots of wine and eat a big dinner, laugh freely and cry along with the heartfelt speeches. We stayed out late and finished the night around a bonfire with giant marshmallows.

I love weddings. There's something so powerful about witnessing two people committing to each other - through everything that life will throw at them. Seeing them make a promise - a promise so strong, that is made to last a lifetime.

Michael and Erin's wedding was a big celebration of love. It was awesome in so many ways!

And as much as I adore my kids - and being a Mother is everything to me - I also REALLY loved the full night's sleep we had, and the 8am sleep-in today! Yep....8am!!!!!!!!!! It's been almost 5 years since I've slept in that late. HEAVENLY!!! I got to shower in peace, have an uninterrupted conversation with my husband in peace, and hey....I even got to pee in peace! 24 hours....child-free.....was VERY good for my Soul.

Chris & I got a chance to reconnect. To be us. Just us.

And I forgot how important that is for a husband & wife. To have time {even just 24hours every now and then} to simply BE...and reconnect. To sleep and relax. To breathe!

BLISS! {And a huge thank you to mum and dad for looking after our 2 littlies....and on Dad's birthday!}

On arriving back home, Ella's hugs and Ryder's face expression was truly the BEST welcome home we could've ever had. Feeling recharged from our 24hours away, I was ready to slip back into our crazy, beautiful life as parents.

We took a spontaneous trip into Brisbane City this evening - just the 4 of us - to relish in some family time, and some delicious Chinese Noodle Soup.

Life is Good!!!  Congratulations Erin and Michael!!!

Nothing more heart-warming and soul-replenishing than a wedding! {and a full night's sleep!}
