Welcome to the bloggy home of Claire Chadwick. I'm the face & designer behind Scissors Paper Rock Designs, a wife to Chris, Mummy to the Divine Miss Ella & our newest addition; Baby Ryder. I'm a Primary School Teacher by trade, but recently shut my classroom door to pursue other BIG dreams of Freelance Writing. I am also excited to announce that my first Children's Picture Book {So Many Sounds} will hit stores in June 2013. This blog is my little online space where I weave together my reflections and stories of Motherhood. I illustrate with photos.... and drink plenty of coffee to keep me going. I'm on a mission to turn the mundane moments of motherhood into MAGICAL ones.

Join me in seeping as much goodness out of life, {whilst I continue to drink way too much coffee & take way too many photos} and together we can make the most of our WILD & PRECIOUS LIVES!

I'd love to hear from you....comment on my posts or send me an email. Buckle up, Enjoy the ride!

Day Five - Settling from the high.

Today, we came down off of yesterday's high.

Although we had a fairly decent night's sleep - only up twice with Ryder, I woke with a shocking headache this morning & Ryder started the day at 5:45am in a cranky mood. Ella had a spring in her step from 6am {oh to have the energy of a four year old! I want it....need it} and Chris joined in with the local triathlon training team as the sun rose.

After breakfast, we all started to hit the wall a little. So, a quiet day was decided on :)

Ryder fought off his morning nap with all his might and refused to acknowledge that maybe sleep was a good idea. So, in true Claire form, I grabbed the kids and abandoned ship. We left Chris to rest & recover from a hard training session and we ventured off to have a play on the local playground....

It worked. An hour outside, made for a happy four year old and a tired nine month old, who finally passed out on return to the hotel with his bottle still in his mouth. He slept for a little over an hour. So did we.

I know this doesn't sound very exciting, and so far from the magic I've been able to share these past 4 days, but today we spent around 70% of it - inside our hotel room :)

We lazed around. Ordered room service for lunch, and pizza delivery for dinner. We watched cartoons, drew pictures, played on the iPads, napped, snacked, battled with an overtired baby and basically relaxed!

We did venture to the pool a couple of times to play & splash and bask in the sun. And I took Ryder into town on the shuttle bus this afternoon to stock up on nappies. Yikes....at $22 for a small pack {the Huggies pack that's normally around $12}, make sure you pack enough nappies & baby supplies before you holiday here!!

Chris & I both feel so tired today. I think it's the come-down from the adrenalin & emotion of yesterday. We have been buzzing since we left Brisbane on Monday morning, so we were due for a lull in energy, surely :)

However, tomorrow......tomorrow we hit the Great Barrier Reef. I can't wait. I hope we find Nemo! Ella will be very disappointed if we don't :)

This evening as we did a whole lot of nothing inside...... this happened on our balcony outside:

We were visited by a heap of cockatoos.

It was all fun & games until one of them hissed at me, and then tried to lunge at Ryder's toes! I know his toes are ever so delicious looking, but c'mon!

Scared the beejeesus out of me!

Then, as the sun set, and I bounced, rocked & hushed a heavy boy who again was fighting his sleep.

I saw this:

The photo doesn't do it justice.....but the moon was MASSIVE. It looked like it was about to perch on top of the mountain. Beautiful.

Thought I'd do a photo dump from my iPhone of my recent Instagram shots. I'm @clairechadwick or @scissorspaperrockdesigns on there if you ever want to join my feed.

Sorry this post lacks a lot of action and excitement, or even inspiration, but it's all I have tonight. Today was a day of rest, laziness and quiet. It was kinda perfect in it's own special way though :) We needed it.

Tomorrow will be fab though....I'm sure of it :)

G'Night All x.

I can see so much of Ella in that fourth photo of Ryder!! Glad you all managed to have a restful day to recuperate after such an action packed week. Even a 'day in' relaxing in the hotel room sounds wonderful to me :)
