One Weekend Wonder {2}
Sunday, August 19, 2012 at 7:32PM One Weekend Wonder - {a Sunday night link-up} - a special moment captured during the weekend. One you want to cherish.
The cake my Mum made today. A photo of me on it - me aged 2 :)
It's my 30th birthday next Sunday. Back here I blogged about not being sure how I was going to celebrate it. Well, not long after that, a decision was made - not only did Chris surprise me with a family trip he's organised for next week {squeal} to celebrate my 30th, but we also organised to have a 'get together' today. With motherhood the leading role in my life nowadays, and many of my friends on the parenting journey too, I decided to celebrate my birthday this year in a casual way. Today, we were meant to be wining & dining by the sea. A playground for the kids. Fresh air, gorgeous winter blue skies. Fish n Chips, coffee, champagne. All my closest friends & family. You get the gist - easy, fun & stress-free.
BUT. Last week happened. And although we're doing well & Ryder's slowly on the mend, I made the hard decision to cancel today's plans. I just had a niggling thought of it not being a good idea right now, with Ryder being so close to being 100% again. The Doctor's have warned us that a relapse of sickness could mean pneumonia for Ryder. I just didn't want to risk him getting rundown or over-tired from a full day in the sun, celebrating my day. I had to put his health & his recovery first. To be on the safe side.
So, to make up for the sad cancelation of my party plans, we had my parents & best friend come over for lunch. It was simple & quiet, and just what we {Ryder} needed. He was able to have 2 big cot sleeps today, and finish the last of his medications, at home.
Plus we hadn't seen my parents for 8 weeks as they just returned home from their USA holiday. So, you can imagine the excitement from Ella to have Grandma & Grampy over.

Next week, we get to celebrate again. Saturday night is my best buddy's 30th party, so PARTAY we will. And then as I awake on the Sunday and click over to my thirties, we get to pack for an exciting week away. I can't wait.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Still snotty, very sooky & clingy and now with a yucky chesty cough, but the blueness has returned to his eyes, and his giggles are returning with force :) Hopefully another fairly slow week, will have him back to 100% health.

After missing 2 weeks of Kindy, Ella was very excited to party yesterday with her school friends. She's missed them, and I think they've missed her too. Friendships made, even at 4, are so special, so strong. They had fun together. It made me happy to see her happy.
Have a great week everyone :)

Glad Ryder is on the mend and all is nearly normal again for you. Enjoy your birthday next week and your holiday. You deserve it. xx
Cute cake!!
I'm glad to hear Ryder is on the mend.
Good call to delay your birthday celebrations. Even if you went ahead with them, you wouldn't really enjoy yourself while you're worrying about Ryder and your birthday should be about YOU! besides which, you'll be 30 for a whole year, LOL, celebrate being 30 any time you want! :o)
Thanks so much Kaye xoxox
You are such a good Mum Claire putting your children's needs before your own :) I think you were wise cancelling your party, especially with your holiday so close and as Laura said above, you probably wouldn't have been able to fully enjoy yourself at a big celebration knowing your bub wasn't 100%. Glad to hear Ryder is on the mend and doing much better x
