Welcome to the bloggy home of Claire Chadwick. I'm the face & designer behind Scissors Paper Rock Designs, a wife to Chris, Mummy to the Divine Miss Ella & our newest addition; Baby Ryder. I'm a Primary School Teacher by trade, but recently shut my classroom door to pursue other BIG dreams of Freelance Writing. I am also excited to announce that my first Children's Picture Book {So Many Sounds} will hit stores in June 2013. This blog is my little online space where I weave together my reflections and stories of Motherhood. I illustrate with photos.... and drink plenty of coffee to keep me going. I'm on a mission to turn the mundane moments of motherhood into MAGICAL ones.

Join me in seeping as much goodness out of life, {whilst I continue to drink way too much coffee & take way too many photos} and together we can make the most of our WILD & PRECIOUS LIVES!

I'd love to hear from you....comment on my posts or send me an email. Buckle up, Enjoy the ride!

Immune Re-Building

It's that time of year. The snuffly noses, chesty coughs, tummy bugs & flus are in full force.

The icky wintery months seem to always deliver a huge load of illnesses. And we have already had our fair share. A recent bout of throat infections / tonsilitis has had all of 4 of us on antibiotics :(

To be honest - I find it hard to maintain healthy, strong immune systems within our family. When kids are attending child cares and/or school it just comes with the territory that bugs get brought home too. And when I am teaching, I too am exposed to the same lovely bugs. And as soon as someone in the family comes down with something....it's very hard to avoid the rest of us getting it too. I'm a clean freak & a germaphobe, but with that said....we still get sick.

Lack of sleep & a busy lifestyle doesn't help my immune system, but I do what I can to try to build it up & keep it as strong as possible - we regularly eat fresh & healthy. We also {including the kids} take a daily multivitamin, and we keep active.

A Random Did you know fact - 70% of your immune system is found in the digestive tract! And things like antibiotics, bad {but yummy} foods & alcohol can unbalance your immune system by messing with the friendly bacteria count inside you {known as Probiotics}. There are a few products on the market to help balance & maintain this good immune boosting bacteria, but some of them are costly, or not appropriate for kids, or taste gross.

I have tried to get Ella to drink those little dairy probiotic bottles each day, and she can't stand the taste. So when I heard about Golden Circle's new Healthy Life Probiotic Fruit Juice, I was VERY keen to trial & review it.

AND......it's a winner!

It's available in the grocery store. It's affordable {under $5 for 1L}. It comes in 2 different flavours - Apple Mango and Breakfast. It's delicious. It's free from dairy, extra sugar, artificial colours & flavours.....and it's packed with probiotics to help your body's immune system.

We tried the Apple Mango flavour, and enjoyed a small glass of it each morning with a serve of fresh fruit for morning tea.

The 4 year old loves, so I'm happy :)

Check it out next time you're grocery shopping.

P.S. This was not a 'cash paid sponsored post'. It was a ”Product Talk by Nuffnang”. This review is my honest opinion on the product.

I remember back when I was teaching our secretary brought in a whole lot of similar style juices for us to try (her husband had some connection to the juice company) and they were meant to be immune boosters. Will keep my eye out for the one you've tried - sounds like a yummy flavour. Grace has a 'Yakult' every day and we have multi-vitamins too. But as you say with you guys, when Grace last got a cold I was spraying antibacterial stuff everywhere and disinfecting surfaces like there was no tomorrow and Sophie STILL got it :( I like to do all I can to prevent things though, makes me feel like I'm helping my girls be as healthy as they can be. Hope the four of you are feeling better soon x
