Welcome to the bloggy home of Claire Chadwick. I'm the face & designer behind Scissors Paper Rock Designs, a wife to Chris, Mummy to the Divine Miss Ella & our newest addition; Baby Ryder. I'm a Primary School Teacher by trade, but recently shut my classroom door to pursue other BIG dreams of Freelance Writing. I am also excited to announce that my first Children's Picture Book {So Many Sounds} will hit stores in June 2013. This blog is my little online space where I weave together my reflections and stories of Motherhood. I illustrate with photos.... and drink plenty of coffee to keep me going. I'm on a mission to turn the mundane moments of motherhood into MAGICAL ones.

Join me in seeping as much goodness out of life, {whilst I continue to drink way too much coffee & take way too many photos} and together we can make the most of our WILD & PRECIOUS LIVES!

I'd love to hear from you....comment on my posts or send me an email. Buckle up, Enjoy the ride!

A Fun Recipe For You.....

This recipe isn't glamorous....but it's oh so easy and a lot of fun!

It would be great for a kid's party!! I made it today with my class {6 & 7 year olds} and they had a lot of fun & shared many giggles :) We wrote up the recipe & analysed every detail of the genre of procedures, we discussed measurements & quantities and I explained what each ingredient was! We have been learning about insects & mini-beasts for 8 weeks now.....so I thought it would be a great wrap up and a bit of fun to make..........

*Earthworm Mud Cake*

 You will need:

  • 250g choc ripple biscuits
  • 250g block cream cheese (at room temperature)
  • 1 cup of dark chocolate melts (melted)
  • 1 cup of sultanas
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 pack of Sour Gummy Worms

 Steps to Follow:

  1. Grease a round cake tin & line with baking paper
  2. Place the biscuits in a zip lock bag & crush with a rolling pin. Pour the crushed biscuits into a large mixing bowl
  3. In a small bowl, beat the sugar & cream cheese with an electric mixer.
  4. Beat the melted chocolate into the cream cheese mixture.
  5. Using a wooden spoon, mix the creamy mixture into the large bowl with the crushed biscuits.
  6. Stir in the sultanas.
  7. Pour the mixture into the cake tin and compact down.
  8. Using your finger, poke small holes into the top of the cake.
  9. Insert the sour worms into the holes.
  10. Refrigerate for 1 hour, or until firm.

A Few Handy Tips:

  • Serve with a dollop of cream or ice-cream.
  • Can be made & refrigerated for up to 5 days.

The best thing about this recipe is that it involves NO cooking or baking.....easy peasy!

And it's amazingly tasty too!

Have Fun!
