Slow Down...
Friday, April 23, 2010 at 7:53PM I came across this image on Sunny Mummy's blog (who had found it at Fat Mum Slim's blog) and as I read it I got an instance sense of CALM....

The world we live in today moves so fast! We want fast cars, we want the quickest route to get somewhere, we want the weekend to arrive, we want technology that makes our lives quick, hassle-free & convenient! You get my gist.....we live in a FAST world! And don't get me wrong....I participate in that 'fast' way of thinking! I want things to be quick, easy &.....well, fast!
However, the older I get, the faster my life seems to be slipping away! And I'm not so sure I'm too happy with that! I remember as a kid, I honestly thought the Christmas Holidays lasted for 12months....I thought that's how it worked - you go to school for a year....then you have Summer break for a year! To me, those 5 weeks of holidays, felt like a whole year long, because I didn't have a care in the world and time was not important to me! My days were filled with swimming, running, dolls, tea-parties, ballet, dress-ups & family outings on the boat!
Now that I'm officially 'grown up', I find myself constantly in a hurry! In a hurry to get home so I can attack the washing & cooking, in a hurry to get to work on time, in a hurry to pick Ella up from daycare, in a hurry to clean the house before guests arrive, in a hurry to finish the grocery shopping so I can get Ella & I to playgroup on time... etc! When really.....there's no real urgent need to hurry so much....it seems the more we hurry, the more stressed we become & the faster our lives slip away! And as quoted by the famous Doctor Phil - "How's that working for you?"
So...I look at these words on this image and I smile:
SLOW DOWN, CALM DOWN, DON'T WORRY, DON'T HURRY, TRUST THE PROCESS!!
Life's Short! Enjoy the ride & live in the moment!! Something we don't do enough in this fast world!
Happy Friday :)

I completely understand what you are saying in this blog. Time used to stand still and now it's as if we live in a whirl wind and for the most part we can't even remember what day it is. When we were younger we were in such a hurry to grow up and now as Mothers we are doing anything to hang on to every moment...it's as if we blink and our children have aged a year!
